I named my blog Ethereal as it is one of the many words used by chef and author Anthony Bourdain to describe food. I am passionate about food and consider myself to be a foodie, which is not hard to do living in the Bay Area as we are surrounded by wonderful restaurants, organic foods, farmer's markets, a culturally rich and diverse population, and one of the most abundant food producing areas in the U.S., if not the world. I find cooking at home to be therapeutic. I enjoy how the cooking process takes advantage of all five senses. I love the tactile feel working with food; the sounds when cutting vegetables or the sounds associated during the cooking process; I love the redolent smells of the kitchen; and the vibrant sights of produce at farmer's markets or the many hues of spices. Eating and cooking is definitely one of life's pleasures.
